What is a Deep Plane Facelift?
A deep plane facelift is an advanced surgical technique that lifts and repositions the deeper layers of the face, including the muscles, fat, and connective tissue, rather than just tightening the skin. This approach allows for more natural, long-lasting results by addressing the underlying causes of sagging, rather than simply pulling the skin. It improves midface volume, smooths deeper wrinkles, and creates a rejuvenated, youthful appearance without the “pulled” look that sometimes results from traditional facelifts.
Deep Plane Facelift vs. Facelift
A deep plane facelift targets deeper layers of the face, lifting muscles, fat, and connective tissue for a more natural and long-lasting result, improving midface volume and smoothing deep wrinkles.
By contrast, a traditional facelift focuses primarily on tightening the skin, which, although it may address sagging, does not yield results that are as significant or long-lasting to the underlying tissues. The deep plane facelift typically offers a more subtle, youthful look with longer-lasting effects, while the traditional facelift may give a tighter appearance and require less invasive work. Dr. Zelhof does not provide this type of procedure.
A neck lift is always performed alongside a deep plane facelift to ensure proper and uniform repositioning of all the deep layers of the head and neck tissues. This combined approach results in a natural, youthful restoration, addressing both facial and neck aging for a more balanced and rejuvenated appearance.
Full Facial Rejuvenation
A full facial rejuvenation is a comprehensive approach to addressing the signs of aging across the entire face. Dr. Zelhof will work with you to understand your aesthetic goals and create a personalized treatment plan that brings about a youthful, refreshed appearance, tailored to your unique needs. This advanced approach focuses on the three key areas of the face: the periorbital region, midface, and jawline/neck. The procedure typically includes a Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift, along with a customized facial fat transfer, and can be complemented by additional restorative treatments such as upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, brow lift, or lip lift. The aim is to enhance and restore your facial features in a balanced, harmonious way, rejuvenating your appearance while ensuring natural, lasting results.
Procedural Details of a Deep Plane Facelift
A deep plane facelift starts with local anesthesia with deep sedation or general anesthesia. Discreet incisions are made around the hairline, ears, and chin. Unlike traditional facelifts, deeper layers of muscle, fat, and connective tissue are lifted to restore volume, smooth deep wrinkles, and improve the jawline and neck. Excess skin is removed, and the incisions are closed. Dr. Zelhof can perform this procedure, along with a comprehensive full facial rejuvenation. which typically takes four to sixhours. Recovery involves swelling and bruising that fades over a few weeks.
